Photo assistant for a day....the secret assignment

I'm required to be a bit vague on the details.....but if you're female, and would like to assist me on a photo shoot to give a Mother's Day present to some very deserving women I'd be very grateful for your participation. This is an unpaid assignment for me (however, I am offering my volunteer assistant(s) a photo session in thanks); this opportunity promises to warm your heart. No previous experience necessary, you would be holding reflectors, moving lights etc. (not to mention meeting some very special people). *

In addition, if you know of a make-up artist or hairstylist who might be willing to donate her time (again, it has to be a female for this particular set of sessions) please send me contact information and I'll be pleased to follow up.



*If you have a teenaged daughter needing to complete some of her high school volunteer hours, this project qualifies - but it would mean missing a day of school.

New Summer Vacation dates

My daughter has a wonderful opportunity ahead this summer, a trip to Europe (yes, I've already asked if I can come along as official trip photographer but no go!), and this has resulted in a change in our family vacation plans. I'll now be on vacation from July 19th - August 5th inclusive. I won't be taking any weekend bookings during this time, but may take on some weekday sessions on short notice if it turns out that we're in town for a few days during that time.

May weekend sessions are booking up nicely, so if you have your eye on a weekend shoot during the warmer months please contact me to book a session (it can be held tentatively and changed (pending availability) if you've not yet nailed down your own summer plans).

We just have to hold fast to the idea that eventually this snow WILL be gone!

Had two amazing photo shoots here at my studio over the last few days - five young ladies all tolled! Here are a few pics from the first session - Mom is so amazingly creative, she brought a suitcase full of goodies that would rival Mr. Dress-up's Tickle Trunk (I may be aging myself there.......) Out and about soon...

Enough already! Unless you're a diehard winter sports enthusiast, you've probably had your fill of winter. I can't wait be shooting outdoors again without having to wear seven layers and clunky boots that make me feel like the Michelin man (mind you, I'm often dressed in three or four layers indoors so I guess it's not that much of a difference. How come men seem to have been blessed with better internal thermostats?)

As soon as I can see something other than white on the ground I'll be off scouting in Halton/GTA for new spots that make good (yet not distracting) backgrounds for this year's sessions.

If you're thinking about booking me for a shoot this year and have an idea for a location, I'll be happy to check it out in advance. Just drop me a line at sandy@theintrepidlens.com with your thoughts. Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no river........well, you get the idea. I have lots of creative locations in mind for this year, and also looking forward to discussing locations which reflect the personality and interests of your own family!
